HEALTHCARE FOR LIFE AND SPORT
Greetings esteemed colleagues, and MATS members!
It’s that time of year, when we will soon decide on the new leaders for our organization, and I am reaching out to ask for your help. If you, or a MATS member you know has ever thought about being more involved at the State level, now is the time! MATS is currently looking for nominees to fill four key positions on our Executive Board. The offices of President Elect, Treasurer, Southwest Lower Peninsula Representative, and Southeast Lower Peninsula representative will all be open.
I can say without reservation that the people involved with MATS are fantastic to work with, and welcomed me whole heartedly during my first term as a regional representative. It has truly been a fulfilling experience, and I hope you’ll consider running for one of our available offices. The current officers, as well as regional boundaries can be found on this website under the “Leadership” tab if you’d like to check it out. If you are interested in running, CLICK HERE, complete the nomination form, and return to me no later than September 30, 2020. Elections will be held during the month of October.
If you have questions, please feel free to drop me a line. We’d love to have you on our team!

MATS Webinar and COVID Resource Page
Please take a few minutes to review the MATS COVID Resource page COVID-19 page. It contains many great resources to assist ATs and others during their Return to Activity planning. Also included is the recording of our recent Webinar that reviewed and discussed some of this material. Feel free to share this info with colleagues and other stakeholders in your community to help with your discussions. Don't forget to check back often as resources will be updated as needed.
MATS Members - Please Read
There is an opportunity for Athletic Trainers to be certified as Contact Tracers in light of the COVID-19 response. This online course is free of charge, and I'm told that it takes approximately 5 hours to complete. There may be a nominal fee for the actual certification, but recently this has been covered as well.
As businesses begin to open up, there will be a demand for Contact Tracers. In addition to the possibility of supplemental income, this is another opportunity to broaden our skill set as medical professionals, and increase our visibility to the public.
CLICK HERE to go to the certification program.
Our team at MATS genuinely hopes that you are all doing well, and looks forward to the return of some type of normalcy.
