The Michigan Athletic Trainer’s Society is a professional membership organization for Athletic Trainers (AT), Athletic Training students, and others who seek to advance the profession of Athletic Training in the State of Michigan. Athletic Trainers are recognized as allied health care professionals who collaborate with physicians to optimize activity and participation of patients and clients. Athletic training encompasses the prevention, clinical evaluation and assessment, and intervention of emergency, acute, and chronic medical conditions involving impairment, functional limitations, and disabilities.

The MATS Athletic Training Student Committee is comprised of Certified Athletic Trainers and Athletic Training Students from throughout the state. Functions and responsibilities of the committee include:

  • Encouraging athletic training student membership and involvement in the Michigan Athletic Trainers’ Society.

  • Coordinating the annual MATS Athletic Training Student Seminar and Leadership Summit each fall.

  • Assisting with the cost of education through the MATS Athletic Training Student Scholarship. 

  • Serving as a liaison between Athletic Training Students and the MATS Executive Board.

  • Working with Program Directors to enhance Athletic Training Student education.

  • Coordinating state-wide philanthropic efforts.



Michigan Representatives to the GLATA Student Senate:  

GLATA Student Senators are responsible for:

  • Represent students in District 4

  • Design, plan, organize and execute the Student Education Program at the GLATA Winter Meeting

  • Present an avenue for students to voice their ideas, comments and concerns

  • Provide leadership and scholarship opportunities for athletic training students in District 4
